Parent Council says.. Have a "Kool" summer

Parent Council gave all the students a summer cup- Have a great summer.
To the grade six class- Have a very successfull Junior and Senior High career. Good Luck to all of you in everything you do.

Swimming grade 1,2.

Even though it was a chilly afternoon the grade one and two class enjoyed their time swimming. We are so very luck to have the pool right next to the school.  Look how many parents enjoyed the water!

Kindergarden and Grade 1 to the Butterfly House

Today we took a trip to the Butterfly House. The colors of the butterflies really surprised us. One even landed on Rayne's back.

Grade 3,4,5 Trip to Echodale

The grade 3,4,5 class spent the day at EchoDale park. They visited the coal mine, watched the blacksmith and then headed to the water. Thank you Ms. Hall and Ms. Raimbault for organizing our great day.

Too bad it was not a typical Medicine Hat summer day, but they still caught some sun.

It was cold but students still enjoyed the summer treats.

Thanks Ms. Delzell and Ms. Mulder for cooking our hotdogs.

Butter and Bread, Grade 1

So when you are asked what did you do at school today what would you say? The grade one class would say that Ms. Nicoll taught us how to make bread in the bread maker and butter. We learned all about measuring. Unique says, that they made the butter as well. How did you do it? We put whipping cream in a jar and shook it for a very long time (as she bounces to show me how they did it). Then we let it settle. Ms. Nicoll put some salt in it. We then put it on our bread. Look how the boys are enjoying it.

Grade 5, 6 at the Esplanade

Grade 5 and 6 went to the Esplanade. What a view the grade five students have found from the roof. Can they see across the river to the school?

Grade 4 and 5 play division games

The grade four and five class spent time today "playing" math games. Some great observations, TRIBES set the tone for our success. Reviewed agreements and the the fours and the fives taught each other division strategies. Great fun.

Movement breaks with Grade Two

Grade two students take a movement break. When asked why, we cannot sit too long, our brains just shut off. Ms. Klaudt gives us breaks. Sometimes we are in the class but sometimes we go outside and work on the monkey bars. Most of us can get across all of them now without help.

Riverside Visits Medalta by Garrett and Nolin (grade 1)

Today we went to Medalta- we drew some pictures. We were at the kiln and we drew pictures of the base of the kiln. The kiln is where, back in the day, they baked their pottery to make it hard.. We got to make our own pots. We took clay and made it into a ball. Then we stuck our thumbs in the middle and made a hole. After that we pinched the side to make the hole bigger ( like a bowl), we made designs and then we put them on a shelf so they can be fired later.
We also went through the museum. It had this humugis pot. It had a hose in it so that water could come out. They had lots of pots and a butter churn (that's how they make butter). Did you know that they made china. (there was this guy that kept all of the stuff and then donated it to the museum)
