Butter and Bread, Grade 1
So when you are asked what did you do at school today what would you say? The grade one class would say that Ms. Nicoll taught us how to make bread in the bread maker and butter. We learned all about measuring. Unique says, that they made the butter as well. How did you do it? We put whipping cream in a jar and shook it for a very long time (as she bounces to show me how they did it). Then we let it settle. Ms. Nicoll put some salt in it. We then put it on our bread. Look how the boys are enjoying it.

Grade 4 and 5 play division games
The grade four and five class spent time today "playing" math games. Some great observations, TRIBES set the tone for our success. Reviewed agreements and the the fours and the fives taught each other division strategies. Great fun.

Riverside Visits Medalta by Garrett and Nolin (grade 1)
Today we went to Medalta- we drew some pictures. We were at the kiln and we drew pictures of the base of the kiln. The kiln is where, back in the day, they baked their pottery to make it hard.. We got to make our own pots. We took clay and made it into a ball. Then we stuck our thumbs in the middle and made a hole. After that we pinched the side to make the hole bigger ( like a bowl), we made designs and then we put them on a shelf so they can be fired later.
We also went through the museum. It had this humugis pot. It had a hose in it so that water could come out. They had lots of pots and a butter churn (that's how they make butter). Did you know that they made china. (there was this guy that kept all of the stuff and then donated it to the museum)
