Using the IPad as a writing tool
Students at Riverside School have three ipads that they can use to help them with their work. Here Broyce is using Dragon Dictation to check his spelling and sentence structure. He reads into the ipad and then copies it into his duo tang.

What size bottle makes the best Model Rocket
For our science fair progect our question was What sized pop bottle (modle rocke) works the best (2L or 500ml ) and how much water do you need.
Hypothisis
We thought the two liter pop bottle wouled work the best with it a quarter full of water. We think that because it can hold the most pressuer.
Things we needed!!
Procedure
steps
1. we put a hole in a cork
2. we put the air needle into the hole in the cork then, we put the air needle on a bike pump
3. we inserted the cork into the mouth of a bottle
4. then we pumped it up untill there was enough pressure for the cork to pop out and the bottle to shoot off
Fins and a nose cone are optional but inprove stability and aerodynamics
Reasults
No water
2L 20meters
500ML 16meters
Quarter full
2L 23meters
500ML 17meters
Half full
2L 21meters
500ML 13meters
Three quarters full
2L 6meters
500ML 12meters
Totally filled
2L 20cm
500ML 60cm

Science fair 101
Hi I am Matayah and this is Zach we are in grade 4 .We did a science project on will a plastic bag keep fruit fresher longer than a container .So we did 4 posters to tell about it .It was awsome 1 of our posters was about the scale we had three scales on one poster. A mold scale a color scale and a smell .Zach was in charge of smelling the fruit and I was in charge of recording the mold and color scales . The second poster was about the fruit the four fruits were pineapple, pear, grape and an orange. Our 3rd and 4th posters were about the pictures that we took to show about our experament . Then we did a presantation like 4 times to difrent groups anyway it was really fun .The steps to make a science fair project are; step 1 brainstorm an idia ,step2 come up with the problem or hypothisis, step3 Then get some materals and start to work ,step 4 make it fancey add some color and pizazz, step 5 your almost ready to present but you need to..........check it over before . You do the presintation you might spell somthing wrong . BE NEAT you do not want to have sloppy writing ,step 6 your ready to present Zach and I are ready to do another one We would recomend if you are going to keep yor fruit out of the fridge or cooler use a grape . We learned from working together that every idia is good and that there in no wrong answers, it was a great and fun projects We might do somthing about which hockey stick shoots farther. Thank you for your time, Zach and I really appreciate it .

Thank you parent council for a meal before our interviews start. We do appreciate all that you do for Riverside and just an aside- you spoil the staff.
Science Fair Projects
Our Science Fair Project
Hyposthis- Which pop would explode the fastest with less sugar?
Process- We put mentos into different kinds of pop and then measured how high the pop exploded.
We used- Ginger Ale, Mountain Due, Diet Coke and Doctor Pepper
Purpose was to see which pop explodes the highest and the fastest depending on the amount of sugar that was in the pop.
We represented each exlposion in a bar graph
Conclusion- The Diet Coke went the highest because it had the least amount of sugar. It went 10.7 inches, the Mountain Due went 8.5 inches, and the Doctor Pepper 8 inches. The Ginger Ale did not explode at all.
So we came up with this conclusion- If you want a healthy pop (low amount of sugar) after performing this pop experiment we would suggest Diet Coke as your option.

Remembrance Day
Today at Riverside School we held a Rembrance Day Assembly. Ewan was our Master of Ceremony. Ewan Welcomed all of our guests and parents to the assembly as well as told us about why we have this special day. The best part was his statememt - We are Canadians because of the great sacrifices that the brave men and women made for us and all that we can really say is Thank You. The Upper Elem. choir sang "Imagine" by John Lenon. The grade class recited the poem, "Little Poppy". Beth, McKenzie and Kinly recited "In Flander's Field". We had a special guest- Corporal Liam Talty, he gave us a peek into what Rembrance Day means to Soldiers. Abby Haney from CHHS joined us and performed the "Last Post" on her trumpet. We ended our Assembly with Bethany and Tessa leading the school in O'Canada.

Happy Halloween- TRIBES, DI and MI
For our Halloween afternoon this year we structured our students into multi-graded groups. We had stations that the staff organized fun activities from TRIBES, DI or MI. The afternoons are geared for fun but at the same time teaching cooperative learning skills and inclusion. This year the grade six students carried on the tradition of the haunted house. Great work.
