Peer Revising- TRIBES
How does TRIBES work in the day to day lessons of the school? This is an excellent example; students are peer revising their stories. Students read their stories to the group. The group came up with two good things about the story and one question that they had about the story content. Without the group feeling comfortable that the rest would listen, not judge this activity would not have worked. Great work grade 5.
Destination Imagination Club
January was the start up of our Destination Imagination Club. Every Wednesday after school students from grade 3,4,5,6 gather to work on instant challenges and are now gearing up for their long term challenges. Destination Imagination is all about problems solving, working together and performing. Students are using all of their skills to perform a task. These tasks can range from mechanical to video to perfomances. All of the different curriculums are used in order to accomplish the task. TRIBES plays a very important part in this Club as students must use all of their agreement to work together. This challenge was how to make a cork roll across a table using only a post it note and two stir sticks. The students had to develop a plan- using a placemat strategy and then rank their ides and solve the problem in four minutes.
Riverside Rink
On this wonderful winter day the students of Riverside School made use of the rink next door to the school and have taken their intramurals outside. Thanks to all the parents that have helped tie skates.
