It is not about not bullying but remembering to be kind all the time said Morrison. GREAT ADVICE.

Sigmund Brouwer visits Riverside
Today we had a treat. Author, Sigmond Brower stopped by to inspire us to write. We were not just entertained by music but his storytelling.
Jada H really enjoyed the music and that we were allowed to sing loud.
Zachary in really appreciated that we are going to get free books. Mr. Brower is so descriptive.

BROOMBALL
Thank you to the community rink guy. That is from everyone at the school. We get to play Broomall all the time because he keeps the ice just right and even let's us on in the morning before he locks it up because it is so warm. LUCKY US!
How do you celebrate Valentines?
Today at Riverside it was all about empathy. Students were treated to a pancake lunch. Thanks parent council. We were also divided into groups (We had grade one to six in our mixed groups ).
We learned how hard it is to have empathy and that before we speak we should think what it is like for that person.
Travel Alberta
The grade three and four class have been working very hard on a vacation. The students are traveling this wonderful province. By doing research both in text and on the computers students came up with the destinations and what was so special in all of those places. We invited parents and other classes to come to our travel fair.

Can this really be a rock?
The grade five six class was busy doing experiments about electricity when another question appeared. Is this really a rock? After some debate we asked Mrs. Hendricks son. He is an archeologist. He responded right away. Put it in water and see what happens. Right away some of it turned mud but then it got really hard again. We are going to leave it in water overnight and see what happens. We are an old school and found this rock in the basement so it will be interesting.
The answer to this question is yes they are rocks. Now we wait until Mrs. Hendricks gets home to find out why they are round. How odd!
Grade one. Working hard on our daily five reading and writing
"The best part of daily five is that we get to do it all." That is inspiring to hear and to see the work they accomplish is because the students are engaged in what they do.

Global play day
Sometimes in our very busy days we must slow down and make sure we have some fun. Riverside School took part in a Global Play Day. Students bought in their favorite games and we spent an hour playing. It was so wonderful hearing all the laughter and engaged chatter. Thanks parents for letting the children bring the games and teachers for the time to just play.
